Disciplines
Classical Dressage
Classical dressage is founded upon sound biomechanical principles of the horse and rider. It espouses dynamic stretching and suppling of the entire horse, lowering of the hindquarters to achieve an impulsive connection with the hand, the balance of the horse shifting progressively toward the haunches as collection increases, and the relative elevation of the neck, with the horse’s head slightly in front of the vertical, never forced behind it.
Western Dressage
Western dressage aims to create an American western horse who is supple, responsive, and balanced. Western Dressage horses are expected to travel with lighter bit and rein contact than in traditional dressage. Western dressage horses remain true to the western disciplines, but the dressage training increases communication between horse and rider, and helps the horse better perform in the western disciplines.
Working Equitation
Working equitation showcases the equestrian techniques of different countries that use horses to work cattle in the field, and the sport aims to preserve the traditions, riding attire and tack that are part of those countries’ cultures. Working equitation is a great way to add variety, fun and new challenge to all styles of riding, whether you ride western, dressage or hunt seat.
